Snowed In!

Yep, that’s right—there was some major snowfall on Duke’s campus again. This time, however, it was not a mere sprinkling of romantic snow. No, we were blasted with several inches this time, and we are now dealing with the resultant ice and slush. As a girl largely raised in Alabama, I am not a cold-weather gal—I spent much of my weekend inside with Seth:)

How do you deal with winter weather? Do you lounge in sweats all day (like me) or are you more of a snow angel?

I have much to share with you and (sadly) not much time—let’s get onto the eats!

Friday

Nothing warms the soul and your tastebuds like a spicy curry.

Saturday

Shortly after surveying the damage outside, it was determined that the gym was closed:( Hence, I slept in and made myself a little scrambled tofu. Please pardon the monochromatic nature of this meal…

The comfort foods just keep on comin’. Dinner featured Peanut Butter Chili with kidney beans. Glorious.

Sunday

Fortunately, the deep-freeze thawed a bit this morning, so I was able to fit in a morning workout. I returned home for a big honkin’ bowl of oat bran with almond butter and apricots—reminiscent of my Alphabet Oatmeal Challenge.

I was one hangry lady today, so shortly after eating breakfast I set about making a stir-fry for lunch. This one featured a chopped up Quorn patty.

Before heading out to chapter, I made another batch of Sloppy Chicks…no drunkenness was involved.

Now I am off to read and head to bed early. Ciao for now!

  1. Hahahah I saw those things at Uncle Harry’s!! I almost picked them up but I have 3/4 of loaf of bread still. They’re pretty much identical :) My roomie has Arnold thins too. I hope they get more in stock!

  2. Well if you’re going to be stuck inside, I guess stuck insider with a boy is the best way to do it ;) what yummy eats this weekend. Have a wonderful Monday!

  3. omgee PB chili!?

  4. haha that’s not a monochromatic meal at all! your food looks gorgeous as always. if by snow angel you mean girl who complains incessantly whenever the temps drop below 60, then yes, i am a snow angel.

  5. Love the tofu scramble! I need to try that myself. I am such a homebody in the wintertime, I HATE cold weather too! Enjoy snuggling :)

  6. I love exploring the outdoors when it’s snowy, but unfortunately, I always have class or rotations when it snows! So, I’d rather the snow stay away..it’s no fun dealing with St. Louisans who don’t know how to drive in the snow!

  7. I’m definitely a “lounger” on snow days too. I love getting out for some fresh air, but there’s nothing like a warm, cozy day indoors! :D

  8. You eat a lot better than the typical college person on a snow day- that’s for sure :)
I’m definitely a “lounge in sweat pants” person!

  9. When it snows I have the tendency to stay inside and bake brownies. There’s just something about the cold and snow that makes me have to eat warm baked goods!

  10. I turn into a complete recluse during the winter. It’s not so bad with a fireplace, hot cocoa, and fresh baked cookies :-)
All your meals look so comforting from the cold.

  11. Gahhh peanut butter chili!! Do you have a recipe?

  12. Ack, sorry abt the dreary weather. Hopefully it will warm up soon enough and the snow will melt within a day.
When it’s cold, I just like to lounge around the house in thick socks like a dork. ;-)
