Spreading the Raw Love
In one of my classes, we recently examined the principles of a raw diet: its basic guidelines, its health benefits, and its potential drawbacks. In light of our recent discussion, I thought my professor might be interested in trying some raw snacks for himself. Thanks to a certain dear friend, I happened to have a few lying around the apartment. I brought them to class, and both the professor and my classmates were intrigued by these tasty goodies. Apparently, they had been under the impression that maintaining a raw diet meant consuming greens by the boatload, with little else. While I do not eat a raw diet myself, I can certainly appreciate its many health benefits, and I am constantly in awe of all the delicious creations I see on raw blogs every day. How do you feel about raw foods? What’s your favorite raw dish? I am a little partial to Gena’s Spicy Thai Dressing
I have been neglecting my schoolwork since, oh, Friday, so I should get onto the goods!
Monday
The classic straw-nana is surprisingly tasty with pumpkin granola.
Tuesday
Remember how I mentioned that I had a special cooking project on the agenda last night? Well, that project was cranberry sauce! I made mine with cloves, cinnamon, and a bit of vanilla extract for flavoring. It made for the perfect Cream of Wheat topping this morning. Hello, Fall-in-a-Bowl.
By the time I was able to prepare lunch today, I was ready to eat my arm. Hence, one of my go-to dishes was on the menu: tofu salad. This particular version featured curry powder, cinnamon, walnuts, raisins, celery, and just a touch of mustard.
I’ve been having a craving for chicken noodle soup lately, so this evening I decided to make a veg version…with chickpeas! I also included barley, veggies, dill, and basil in the mix. Check out those glorious blackberries I scored from the dining hall!
Ciao for now, lovelies.

I appreciate the raw diet for its health benefits but I can NEVER do it myself. I’ve tried raw lasagna and sushi though, and those were unbelievable!
I’ve always been really interested in the raw diet, although my funds always prevent me from going raw often. I do agree that Gena has the best raw recipes around! I’m sure you tried the banana froyo she posted a few months back. Amazing!
Oooh, those are definitely gorgeous blackberries! Love that fall in a bowl theme as well
I feel that raw foods are definitely nutritious, but so do cooked foods. So having a balance of both is good for both health benefits and the taste buds! I personally prefer the taste of cooked foods, though I do love fresh fruit! I gotta say that my favorite raw food is probably Kombucha!
I saw cranberries today and thought about how good they would be as an oatmeal topping. Did you add sugar to your cranberry sauce?
I’m really digging that fall in a bowl!
The only raw recipe that i love is raw chocolate pudding! mmm now I’m craving it!
I’m really curious about raw food, and I’d totally eat it if someone made it for me, but as it is it sounds like a lot of effort to put into food
i love the love spreading of different styles of eating. i say why not try them all? at first, i thought eating raw would be all greens too, but there is so much more to it.
ummm i am in love with your fall in a bowl oatmeal, tofu salad and veggie chicken noodle soup. your eats never cease to amaze me!

High raw all vegan my love. I just feel better this way. It’s not limiting, it’s freeing. I love it. If I didnt I would eat more cooked. Not all raw, but about 90% I’d guess if I had to.

I don’t eat raw actually, but my favourite raw dish (besides jummy veggies) is a banana soft serve!
