Stay Sharp
A few days ago, I decided to give myself a housewarming gift and ordered this:
While I have a healthy appreciation for kitchen gadgets, I have come to realize over the past few months that the most essential tool for my cooking endeavors is a good knife. Indeed, I’ve had several kitchen mishaps in my culinary career that could have been avoided if I had had a reliable, sharp knife.
Just as I am with any new toy, I am eager to try it out. The contents of the fruit bowl is bound to be a fruit salad by the end of the evening…
If you could keep only one kitchen tool, which one would you choose? Aside from a sharp knife, I’d choose my beloved immersion blender—how else would I feed my homemade hummus addiction?
Check out what I’ve been slicing and dicing today:
I’ve played around with several pancake recipes, but I always come back to a simple vegan banana combination. Topped with raspberries and coconut butter, they were pure bliss. Sometimes, you just can’t beat the taste of simplicity:)
After running a few errands this morning, I got creative with some leftover macaroni and cheese. I added white beans, veggies, and herbes de Provence to re-invent Wednesday’s dinner.
Once dinner-time rolled around, I prepared a simple chickpea curry.
Alright, I must now attend to Say Yes to the Dress. I am very interested in watching the new Atlanta-based shows—the salon at which those episodes are filmed is where my sister bought her wedding gown five years ago!
Toodles.

I definitely could use some sharp knives! The knives in our house are lame! Happy slicing m’dear!
gahhhh say yes to the dress!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE that show!
and i seriously want there to be cooler weather just so i can play with chickpeas hahaha
Haha I just spent $100 on a knife today!
Good knives are key! I couldn’t give up my magic bullet. How would I make smoothies and hummus? The chickpea curry looks jammin
I can’t do without my salad spinner/ strainer. No wet greens please :]
I couldn’t live without my blender. I mean, what would I do without my home made nut butters, soups, and all other blendy goodness
)
But I could use some new good knives…
oh.. I didn’t know you have a mini cooper… I’m sooooooooooo jealous of you!!! that’s my favorite car!!!
the Atlanta say yes to the dress is hilarious! there is nothing better than big ol’ southern belles shopping for wedding dresses. it’s awesome.
and yay for new knives! i admittedly could use a nice set too – but i think i may wait until i move into a real kitchen. mine is so small, and i just don’t know where i would put them
I agree! A good, sharp knife is a must in a well equipped kitchen.
Along with that, I’d have to choose my food processor. My basil hummus addiction would not be in existance without it.
your vegan banana pancakes are quite literally, oozing deliciousness onto my screen <3
the drizzle ontop is always the perfect touch!!
have a wonderful weekend!!
knives! gracious, i need some new cutlery. but…i’d rather have a magic bullet so i’m saving up for that. ah well.
Hiii! I just found your blog while googling “baked bbq tofu”! I loooove the sound of your PB BBQ Tofu!! I’m making it tonight
Your blog looks fabulous and I can’t wait to read more!
Those knives look great also- I’m ashamed to admit that I have been using dollar store steak knives as my every-day cutting/chopping kinves
Beautiful pancakes
Where do you get/what brand of coconut butter do you use??
I NEED a good knife set!! My knife set is one that my college roommate left behind when we both got married. Lame, I know!
Good knives make all the difference!
I think I would keep my food processor. It may be a pain to clean, but it always gets the job done.
I got my wedding dress at the same boutique. Every time I see the commercial I always tell my husband… I think he is getting tired of hearing it
