The Wonder Veggie’s Tasty Cousin: Broccoli Slaw
“Are there any vegetables you don’t like?”
The question above is one that is asked with considerable regularity here at The Broccoli Hut. The truth is, I love almost all vegetables…but there are a few that even I have not learned to love. Among my vegetable blacklist are peas, lima beans, and–most pertinent to this post—cabbage. Despite several attempts at preparing it in an enticing manner, the taste of cabbage remains entirely repulsive to me. Just when I thought I was destined to lead a life devoid of cole slaw and sauerkraut, I discovered a delicious alternative: broccoli slaw.
Considering my love of a certain green cruciferous vegetable, it should come as no surprise that I was delighted at this supermarket discovery. With a bounty of vitamins A and C, plus an impressive fiber content, broccoli slaw is a highly nutritious addition to any diet; it boasts all the benefits of broccoli, simply in shredded form (along with a few carrots and the occasional purple cabbage leaf). The chief reason I love broccoli slaw, however, is its incredible versatility—it’s equally tasty in raw or cooked form, with a sweet or savory kick. Here are a few of my favorite ways to enjoy it:
Broccoli slaw is sold in sealed plastic bags most supermarkets. Look for it in the produce section!
How would you prepare broccoli slaw? I am always looking for inspiration!

I need to get experimenting with broccoli slaw, apparently. Truth is, I pick up my broccoli from the dining hall so it’s pre cut and everything
I LOVE broccoli slaw!
I like making stir-fry with broccoli slaw… it’s so easy and also turns out great! adding sesame oil is the key!
I’m not a huge fan of raw broc, but the slaw is the best! I like it cooked, raw, in salads, you name it! Ooh, its also a great addition to homemade bean burgers, just mash your beans and stir it in…it helps bind them together!
Sorry, no new ideas from me – I like b. slaw in salads and stirfrys! Oh, and in chili
I can’t believe you don’t like peas! They are one of my faves! I used to mix broccoli slaw with tuna and salad dressing (peas too) – it it is also great with craisins.
I’ve never understood cole slaw. Maybe it’s because I never grew up eating it but I never ever touch it if I get it served as a side at a restaurant (usually the only time I come in contact with it). Broccoli slaw doesn’t sound very appetizing to me either. I might just have a prejudice against slaws!
This July 4th I had an Asian-style broccoli slaw salad with crunchy noodles at a neighbor’s cookout…I still dream about it.
Such creative uses for broccoli.
I do like brocc, but my fave is steamed. And sometimes with bbq sauce (I know that’s weird).
On my veggie hit list: Brussels sprouts, water chestnuts, radishes.
I’m not a big fan of broc slaw.. not sure why! It does add a nice crunch though!
Mhmm loving the tortilla soup! Always had a problem with celery as a kid – of all the veges I know! Lol! Still not a big fan of it on its own but its okay in a dish! Can’t think of any others I really disliked, I know my Mother would always try to hide spinach ina lovely feta and spinach pizza but she did that pretty successfully!

I was interested to see how YOU used your slaw package on here. Normally I just mix a dressing of mayo, sugar and vinegar and eat it just like coleslaw but you have given me a new outlook on the bag.
