Treadmill Buddy
As some of you may recall, my last rendezvous with a grad student started last spring in church, of all places. Well, as you may have surmised by my silence about the relationship over the past several months, that one fizzled fast. However, a new interest has been sparked at another one of my most commonly visited locations: the gym.
Yesterday morning, I was departing the gym: sweaty, a little tired, and hungry. The next thing I know, someone has sidled up to me and says, “so I notice we run at the same time in the mornings.” I was thinking, Yeah, I’m basically like clockwork…what’s your point?, but instead I said something profound like “I’m definitely a morning exerciser.” Anyway, we had a short little chat in which we exchanged our names a few basic facts about ourselves. We parted ways, and I didn’t really think anything more about it. I saw my treadmill buddy again this morning from across the gym, but I’m pretty attached to my favorite treadmill (the one that’s closest to the TV with the Today Show on it), so I didn’t bother to say hello (yeah, I know—my sociability is astounding). When I returned home, I found a Facebook friend request in my inbox…from the treadmill man. After waiting an appropriate amount of time, I accepted the request and headed to class.
The saga continues. This afternoon, in one of my usual bouts of productivity, I decided it would be a good idea to waste time on Facebook…then I received a Facebook Chat message from you-know-who. We got to talking for about 45minutes until he abruptly asked me if I wanted to grab coffee on campus in a few minutes. Spontaneity is not my thing, but I agreed. We ended up chatting for two hours, and the impromptu coffee date ended with his asking when I returned from Thanksgiving break and would I like to hang out sometime. Woo! Just days ago, I was thinking my upcoming break would be too short; now I am thinking it will last an eternity. Sigh. Did you do anything spontaneous today?
For those of you who have no interest in my love life (or lack thereof), you will be happy to see that I have some eats to share with you:
Thursday
One of my all-time favorite combinations—just like a berry milkshake!
Friday
So, we all know Smoothie in a Bowl and Oats in a Jar…but have you ever had Smoothie in a Jar? Phenom! In case you’re keeping count, that’s the FOURTH jar of nut butter I have finished in 8 days. Why are they all disappearing at once??
Due to my unscheduled coffee date, I didn’t get to eat “lunch” until approximately 5:30. Needless to say, I was hangry. One of my Salad Lady recipes saved the day.
I got hungry for dinner surprisingly soon after my belated lunch. Stuffed acorn squash with pumpkin-spiced chickpeas (not roasted, however) were on the menu.
Alright, I gotta go pack now…Birmingham here I come!

Awh, well I hope everything works out for you with treadmill man (even if that means being friends or something more). I met my guy at Kroger. He was my cashier three Sundays in a row. Love at first cha-ching, I tell you. =P

I definitely think a late “lunch” is worth it if it means you’re spending time with a new someone! Even if he ends up just being a new friend, that’s still a great thing.
Have an excellent Thanksgiving!

I was wondering what happened to him! Hehe, good luck on this new boy. If you can have a decent conversation with a guy for two hours, then I’d say he’s a keeper
