Yays and Nays, Part II
Like most days, today was full of ups and downs. Observe:
Yay: I went for a run in the sunshine on Raleigh’s beautiful Greenway Trail.
Nay: As always, the entire route reeked of dog poop.
Yay: Persimmons were on sale this week, so I bought a couple.
Nay: I have no idea how to eat them.
Yay: I finished color-coding my notes for my literature review.
Nay: I now have to actually write the paper.
Tell me, what are your yays and nays today?
After yesterday’s trail mix, I am mildly obsessed with the combination of cranberry, coconut, and chocolate.
Lunch was inspired by a favorite salad at Elmo’s Diner. Compare:
For dinner, I got creative with butternut squash and coconut milk. Recipe to come!
Alright, I am off to help Seth pack up his apartment. Ciao!

Nays today = getting lost to & from the new dance studio (I told you I have a horrible sense of direction beyond belief!)
Yays today = being rescued from “lostness” by Suave Slav, and having dance practice with him.
Good luck packing up Seth’s place!
yumm, i made HEABs kabocha squash custard this afternoon with coconut milk and it was delicious, so I’m sure your soup was tasty
Yays: I didn’t have to code data this morning! Thanks to your pumpkin hummus recipe, lunch was fabulous. And I made some fabulous pumpkin chili and pumpkin cornbread to share with friends at a cookout (Haven’t turned orange, yet.)
Nays: Dishes. I detest them.
I have many yays and nays today, but the nays take over. Good way to look at the positive, though!
Yays: Going on a peaceful, early beach run; having a yummy lunch before going to work; no school today.
Nays: It was cold ALL day; going to work; dealing with a mean, untrustful boss…..
I’ve made quite a bit coconut soups and bquash is one I’ve experimented with! Soooo yummy. You should check out my page for ideas. I have one I think you’d like- mushroom coconut soup!
Good morning! I love persimmons and wrote about it here, in case ur interested…..http://letslearntofeelfree.blogspot.com/2010/11/vegan-mofo-month-my-story-part-i.html. There are two kinds , one that is big and ripe when about to get ssquashed only by loocking at it and the other that is a bit smaller, more orange and harder. By the looks of your picture your are the second…I ppersonally enjoy eating the first for reasons you will discover on my post..haha well i loe the different texture and useually just bite into it, or cut it in slices..you can eat it all but i recomand leaving the skin….it can taste a bit hairy….ENJOY!
Caroline, hummus-filled eggs sounds really tasty (if I ate eggs) but what do you do with the yolks?
I love buying foods that you don’t know how to cook or eat! Quite an adventure!
Yays from yesterday: going to a hockey game with a great guy!
Nays from yesterday: sleeping in too late and feeling a little sluggish most of the day!
yay! it’s almost dinner timeee.
nay! i have no idea what i want. booooo
have a great weekend! persimons are so pretty haha
I am in LOVE with persimmons! I just had my first one a few weeks ago. I had seen them on KERF’s blog a lot and I really wanted to try them. When I found them at Wal-Mart (I know…shocking) I nearly did a happy dance right there in the middle of the produce department!
Today I had some cottage cheese sprinkled with cinnamon, a chopped up persimmon, and a few pomegranate arils! SOOOOO yummy!
Those waffes look AMAZING! And I don’t know how to eat persimmons either.
Yay: Got to see my boyfriend up at Notre Dame
Nay: Had to split my time with him between other friend and family time. Always a hard decision
Yay: I didn’t go overboard on the tailgate food!
Nay: I went overboard on the post-game dessert food
Yay: I got in a 3.1 mile run this morning
Nay: I am now freaking exhausted because I should have slept more!
Yay: I woke up bursting with energy at 5 am this morning.
Nay: After bouncing out of bed, I realized that it’s Sunday, not Monday.
Persimmons intimidate me.
Oh I love persimmons. But I grew up just eating them raw. Except the skin. And only when they are very very ripe.
